FREE & EASYCUSTOMER PARKING!

Free 3hr customer parking onsite in the underground carpark or parking meters out the front.
Easy parking on blue level - the stairs in the bottom left corner of blue level come up right next to our shop.


Regular Trading Hours:

Monday to Friday: 9:00am - 6:00pm (Last collections are at 5:45pm)

Tuesday: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Last collections are at 4:45pm)

Saturday: 9:30am - 1:00pm (12:00 Noon - 1:00pm arranged pick up / drop off's)

Sunday & Public Holidays: By appointment



Subject to availability - After Hours Drop Off @ Woolloongabba by arrangement by sms / calling Jason on 0414717817, a $20 after hours drop off may apply.


After Hours Opening & Overtime Surcharges

Between 9:00pm - 6:00am (7 days a week), the opening surcharge is $110.00

All other times outside of normal opening hours, the opening surcharge is $90.00

Overtime after 6:00pm Mon-Fri & after 1:00pm Saturday incur a $20.00 surcharge every 10 minutes or part thereof.

 



How old do I have to be to rent?
You must be 18 years or over to rent yourself, otherwise you will need a Parent or Guardian to rent on your behalf.


Do I need Identification?
Yes, all customers will need present a minimum of 80 points of Identification from Australian authorities upon your first rental, or if you have not rented within 12 months.
To reach this 80 point total, you can choose the type of identification that suits you from the following lists.
In general Australian Issued Drivers Licence, Medicare Card will meet the requirements.


Group A (70 points each)
-A fully certified birth certificate (or copy certified by a Justice of the Peace)
-A current passport
-An Australian citizenship certificate

Group B (40 points each)
These items must include a photo for verification
-A current licence or permit issued under Australian law that has your photo, name and address, eg. Driver’s licence
-Identification issued by Government authorities eg. Public Service Employee ID, Pension Card, Health Care Card
-A student identification card issued by an Australian educational institution

Group C (25 points each)
-Official correspondence addressed to you such as a public utility account (eg. gas, water, electricity), council rates, bank statement or similar
-Medicare, Bankcard, Visa or other credit card

ONLY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, OR CERTIFIED COPIES ARE ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF IDENTITY.
 


What about if you are not an Australian citizen?
All customers will need present satisfactory Identification. If you are not an Australian citizen the below Identification is required, along with a credit card bond as listed below in the bond section.

-A current passport
A current visa for Australia
-Proof of address in Australia within the last 4 weeks
-Proof of address in the country your passport was issued from
-Two reference contact persons- Minimum of one in Australia

ONLY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, OR CERTIFIED COPIES ARE ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF IDENTITY.

Please note any attempt to leave the country with rented equipment will be considered theft (unless authorised in writing from Black Dog Camera Hire).



Do I have to pay a bond?
If you pay for your rental with a valid credit card and are an Australian citizen and you meet the ID requirements, and the rental equipment value is under $10,000.00, then usually nil bond is required.
If you are not an Australian citizen we will most likely require a refundable bond (credit card only). The bond required will be different depending on how much equipment you wish to rent.
NOTE: Bond is only refundable if the equipment is returned on time in the same condition as hired, otherwise part or all the bond will be forfeited.

Do I need identification the 2nd or subsequent times I may rent?
For Australian citizens, after your first rental, you are simply required to present a valid photo ID showing your current address. If you have not rented with in 12 months of you previous rental, you will be required to present 80 points of identification again.

I have found a Camera / lens on your website I would like to hire – what now?
The easiest way is to book online using our booking system.
You can also email us at bookings@blackdogcamerahire.com.au. If you need something urgently, please phone us and we can process your booking over the phone 07 3036 0997.
When placing you're booking, please nominate the equipment you would like to hire as well as the dates, pick up and drop off times. We will then contact you to confirm a pick-up time at our office at Shop 13b, 803 Stanley Street, Woolloongabba, Brisbane QLD 4102, where collect your items and pay for the hire in-person. If you are unable to collect in person, we can process your booking online or over the phone via credit card and arrange to have the equipment couriered to you and back to us again. You will also be asked to sign a Terms and Conditions document before being able to hire your equipment or if you book online you can electronically accept the terms and conditions.
You will still need to complete any ID requirements if you have not rented with us before or you rented more than 12 months prior. 


Is a deposit upon booking required?
Yes, A 20% deposit of the rental is required when booking for first time customers.

Is there Insurance?
Yes, the rental gear is automatically insured and the excess is $1000.00 (no extra to pay, it is included in the rental amount).



How can I pay for my rental in store?
Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, EFTPOS, Direct Deposit or Cash.



What time can I pick up my rental on the day of the booking?
Generally pick ups for rental equipment are between 12:00 Noon and 6:00pm Monday to Friday (additional fees may apply) and 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday. 

Prior to 11am pick up on Saturday will incur a weekend rate.
If you need to collect prior to these time if should be no problem if you just let us know at some point before pick up (give us 2 days notice if able).

We are more than happy to facilitate Morning pick ups as long as the equipment is available.



Can I take the equipment out of the country?
Yes but only if you are an Australian citizen, however our insurer does not provide insurance outside of Australia and you will be required to show proof you have arranged your own insurance. We will also require two credit cards on file and alternate contact details. Contact us for more information.


I want to hire a camera for the weekend – when do I pick it up and drop it off? 
How much is the weekend rate?
You can collect your item after 12pm on a Friday afternoon and you must return it by 12noon on a Monday morning. If you return it later than this you may be charged the full daily rate for the Monday. If you’re planning to return the equipment before 9:30am please inform us at the time of making the booking.
 Our special weekend rate in equal to a 2 day rental fee, you get 1 day for free.


Exactly what are the time periods for a day, week and a month when hiring?
A daily rate is a full 24 hour period, which begins when the item has been booked to be collected.
That item must then be returned by that same time the following day.
If you do not show, you will be charged 20% of the 1 day rate of the entire booking.
A week is a full 7 day period which begins when the item is collected.
That item must be returned by that time 7 days thereafter.
A month is a 4 week period which begins when the item is collected.
That item must be returned by that time 4 weeks thereafter.



Can rentals be arranged outside of normal business hours?
Yes, we can arrange for collections and returns outside of business hours, though special opening surcharges apply. 

Please note, our standard opening hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, Tuesday 9:00am - 5:00pm and 9:30am - 1:00pm Saturday (Closed Sunday).
